CENTER ICE SPOTLIGHT: CHARLIZE STODDART | CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

Updated: Jul 7, 2020

INTRODUCING CHARLIZE STODDART!

I was born in Toronto, Ontario, and I grew up in a small town outside the city until I was thirteen. I began my hockey career in Canada and have continued with the sport since moving to Charlotte, NC. I currently play for the Carolina Hurricanes and I love hockey more than anything. It is a sport that has shaped me in so many ways and it is a huge part of the person I am today.

I heard about this opportunity from Jaz Miley and after learning more about the movement and the message it promotes, I decided that this was something that aligns with many of the things I value about hockey. I feel that I am a very driven individual, which makes me believe that I would be a great fit for this position.

I am looking forward to meeting new people who share the same passion as me, and learning more about the ways we can support our community.

I am a movie fanatic! I love watching older films and seeing the evolution int he movie industry and how many things have changed in development and production.

I would want to sit down and have dinner with Kendall Coyne. She has been an inspiration of mine since I first saw her playing. She has taught me to preserve and keep my head up no matter what. She shows that hard work really can pay off and I admire her greatly for that.

The best advice I have ever received in my hockey career and in life is that even when times are tough, you have to push through the main and remind yourself why you are doing what your doing. You must always persevere.

My dream for women's hockey is to become equally respected and watched as men’s hockey. Women work 10 times harder just to find there place in society and finally gaining the recognition they deserve would be a whole step for all women.
